Brawl Stars August 2026 Update: Cosmo, Vince & Brawler Blast

Brawl Stars’ August 2026 update reshapes the mobile MOBA with Brawler Blast, a lively new way to unlock fighters, plus Mythic newcomers Cosmo and Vince. Duolingo and Brawl-O-Ween events, fresh Hypercharges, eight Buffies, new modes, and sweeping balance changes make this one of the game’s busiest updates yet.

Key Takeaways

  • Brawler Blast replaces Starr Road with a shooting-gallery unlock system that lets players knock down targets to reveal their next Brawler.
  • Cosmo and Vince join the roster as new Mythic Brawlers built around projectile control and collectible caterpillars.
  • Duolingo and Brawl-O-Ween headline the events with a new Boss Fight, community challenges, puzzles, rewards, and a story-driven finale.
  • Eight Brawlers receive Buffies, while new Hypercharges, Hide & Seek, map modifiers, balance changes, and quality-of-life upgrades broaden the meta.

Brawler Blast Replaces Starr Road

The biggest progression change is Brawler Blast, a shooting-gallery-style system that takes over from Starr Road. Credits still move players toward the next rarity, but unlocking now presents up to ten unowned Brawlers as targets. Fire at the lineup, knock candidates down, and the final target standing becomes your unlock.

Credit costs stay unchanged at 160 for Rare, 430 for Super Rare, 925 for Epic, 1,900 for Mythic, 3,800 for Legendary, and 5,500 for Ultra. Some rounds can also offer a smaller choice of two to four Brawlers, while a redesigned collection screen adds search and absorbs the old Starr Road and Fame navigation.

Cosmo and Vince Join the Roster

Cosmo — Mythic Controller

Cosmo’s Orbit attack launches three circling projectiles that spread out and increase in size and damage. His Super, Gravitational Pull, attaches a magnet to an enemy so allied projectiles strongly home toward that target, creating dangerous focus-fire opportunities for coordinated teams.

  • One Gadget creates a knockback area, while the other reveals an area for six seconds and blocks movement abilities inside it.
  • His Star Powers can accelerate Orbit or restore two ammo when Gravitational Pull connects.

Vince — Mythic Damage Dealer

Vince turns a growing caterpillar collection into combat power. His coffee-based attacks transform caterpillars into moths, while Barista Barrage marks enemies so his main attacks deal extra damage. Defeat costs him half of his collection, making survival and route planning central to his rhythm.

  • His Gadgets offer an explosive cappuccino or a quick way to convert nearby caterpillars into moths.
  • His Star Powers attract caterpillars or heal Vince for 1,200 health whenever one transforms.

Duolingo and Brawl-O-Ween Take Over

The two-week Back 2 School collaboration brings Duo into Brawl Stars with a brand-new Boss Fight, themed player identity items, daily rewards, an event hub, and community-wide challenges. It is followed by a month-long Brawl-O-Ween storyline linked to Gus, where puzzles, community decisions, Creator-led activities, returning bosses, and a new gacha coffin build toward the finale.

Gus’s balloon, Loony, also appears as an interactive Home-screen companion. Players can earn up to six wins per day through Loony’s Loot for Starr Drops or Chaos Drops; completing all six wins secures the reward even if it is not manually claimed before the next day.

New Hypercharges and Eight Buffies

Nori’s Master Fisherman Hypercharge pulls enemies inward before dealing area damage when he dives into water. Wendy’s Green Energy strengthens her Shield Generator and lets it absorb 90% of damage taken by Wendy and her teammates.

Poco, El Primo, Amber, Gus, Chuck, Max, Kit, and Shade receive Buffies that expand their kits. Highlights include stronger support tools for Poco and Gus, more aggressive mobility and durability for El Primo, better oil-based area control for Amber, and major mechanical changes for Chuck.

Chuck’s Super Rework and Balance Changes

Chuck now starts each match with a full Super and carries four charges and four posts by default. His Super no longer charges automatically; placing a post or dashing spends one charge. The redesign gives Chuck more deliberate control over his rail network, balanced by lower raw dash damage.

The wider balance pass buffs Brawlers including Jae-Yong, Bea, Ziggy, Jacky, Jessie, Colette, Janet, Maisie, Clancy, Bo, Eve, Buster, Tara, Melodie, Lola, Leon, and Dynamike. Ash, Wendy, Nori, Meg, Griff, Max, Bolt, Brock, Lumi, Rico, and Ruffs receive nerfs, alongside separate tuning for Brawl Arena.

Hide & Seek, Prop Hunt, and New Modifiers

Hide & Seek pits one Seeker against three Hiders across four 45-second rounds, rotating the Seeker role so everyone gets a turn. The Seeker is stronger but cannot regenerate health, while the Prop Hunt modifier lets stationary players disguise themselves as objects until attacking reveals them.

  • Loaded Walls: Destroyed walls can release bombs, bowling balls, shuriken, or bumper cars.
  • Friendly Fire: Damage sources can hurt teammates, raising the cost of careless attacks.
  • New environments: Brawlywood, Duolingo, Ghost Metro, Giftshop, and Swamp of Love join the rotation.

Royal Academy, Brawl-O-Ween, and Quality-of-Life Changes

The Royal Academy season dresses Hank and Nani in school leadership roles and adds Academy-themed looks for Najia, Ollie, and Mandy. The Brawl-O-Ween season follows with fortune-teller, cursed, monster, and paranormal skins for Mr. P, Shade, Piper, Chuck, Damian, and more, alongside Supercell Make, Moon Festival, and True Silver and Gold cosmetics.

Quality-of-life improvements include Latin American Spanish support, clearer friend online status, better ability behavior and icons, speed-boost stacking for Gear Speed and several Star Powers, and the shorter Ultra rarity name. Respawn invincibility now ends when a player takes action, and the update also fixes issues involving Hypercharges, decoys, Gadgets, and visual effects.

Pro Tip

Spend your first sessions testing the reworked kits and modifiers in lower-pressure modes before committing to Ranked. With Friendly Fire, Chuck’s charge economy, and Cosmo’s team-targeting Super all rewarding deliberate coordination, clean positioning and voice communication will matter more than chasing damage alone.
