The Concept
Songs of Conquest is a love letter to 90s strategy classics. You lead powerful magicians called Wielders across handcrafted and randomized maps, raising armies, hunting artifacts, and expanding your territory. The loop splits between two layers: exploring and developing your kingdom on the overworld, then dropping into deep, tactical turn-based battles where troop positioning and spellcasting decide everything. Four distinct factions — the knightly Arleon, the swamp-dwelling Rana, the necromancers of Loth, and the gunpowder mercenaries of Barya — each play very differently.
Key Features
- Deep tactical combat — Combine troops to maximize spells and damage, and wage epic siege battles where the right magic at the right moment swings the war.
- Four choral campaigns — Each faction’s story is accompanied by an original song that unlocks new verses as you complete missions.
- Endless replayability — Handcrafted story maps, randomized skirmish maps, head-to-head conquest maps, and a full in-game map editor with a thriving mod community.
- Play together — Most maps support single-player, co-op, or multiplayer via local hotseat or online.

Pro Tip
Don’t sleep through the campaign tutorials thinking you already know this genre. Songs of Conquest leans hard on its “Essence” magic economy — troops generate the resource you spend on spells — and learning to build armies that feed your best spells is what separates a clean victory from a grind. Start with Arleon if you want the most beginner-friendly faction.
