Shape a Ship Without a Rigid Blueprint
ShipShaper focuses on free-form creation. Instead of assembling vessels from a narrow list of fixed hulls, players can push, pull, bend and reshape their ideas into distinctive boats. Props, structural pieces and decorative elements help turn a rough silhouette into a fishing boat, steamer, submarine or something that ignores traditional naval design entirely.
The approachable tools are designed to keep experimentation moving. You can make broad changes quickly, refine smaller details and then view the finished vessel as a floating diorama or a ship in a bottle. A photo mode provides another way to present a completed build.
Build, Test and Share
Creation is only part of the experience. Finished ships can be placed on the water so players can see how their designs look in motion and from different angles. Steam Workshop support opens the door to browsing community creations, sharing unusual builds and learning new techniques from other shipwrights.
ShipShaper also treats player creations as useful assets. Models can be exported in FBX and STL formats, and the game includes a free commercial licence for exported work. That makes it interesting not only as a relaxing sandbox, but also as a rapid concept tool for artists, developers and tabletop creators.
A Connection to the Falconeer Universe
The game belongs to Tomas Sala’s Falconeer universe, and ships can be exported directly into Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles. Players who already enjoy building settlements across the Great Ursee can design vessels in ShipShaper and bring them into that wider world.
Even without prior Falconeer experience, the calm diorama presentation and tactile modelling tools make the workshop easy to appreciate on its own. There are no strict objectives forcing every creation toward the same answer; the pleasure comes from following an idea and seeing what shape it takes.
What Early Access Means
The current release is an Early Access version rather than the final build. The developer expects this phase to last at least three months, with planned work including airship creation, expanded test-driving, ship analysis tools, additional themed content and interface improvements. Features and balance may therefore change as development continues.
Who Is ShipShaper For?
ShipShaper suits players who enjoy creative sandboxes, model building and relaxed experimentation. Its export features also give it unusual value for creators who want to sketch a nautical idea in 3D without beginning with a complex professional modelling package.
Pro Tip
Start with the overall silhouette before adding props. A strong hull shape is easier to refine, and testing it on the water early can reveal proportions that are difficult to judge inside the workshop. Save detail work for the moment when the vessel already reads clearly from a distance.
