Lou rewards players who want to control the map with a huge freeze. This guide covers the general build, favourable modes, draft partners, counters, and the decisions that make the kit work.
Quick Verdict
Choose Lou when your composition can support its main win condition: control the map with a huge freeze. Patient positioning and coordinated pressure matter more than chasing every elimination.
Best Modes and Maps
Lou is most comfortable in objective modes where positioning and repeatable team fights matter, including Gem Grab, Brawl Ball, Hot Zone, Knockout, or Bounty depending on the current rotation. Prioritise maps that support the kit’s preferred range and give safe cover without blocking its main pressure tool.
Best Build
Recommended general build: Ice Block Gadget, Hypothermia Star Power, Damage Gear, and Super Charge Gear, with Slushie Storm Hypercharge. This is Lou’s safest all-purpose setup: Ice Block denies a decisive burst or dive, Hypothermia weakens enemies as Lou builds their freeze meter, Damage rewards full three-cone hits, and Super Charge helps him create more game-changing ice fields.
Fixed-objective alternative: Use Cryo Syrup with Supercool on maps where Lou can repeatedly cover a Hot Zone, Gem Grab choke point, or tight Brawl Ball lane with his Super. Cryo Syrup instantly adds freeze to enemies already on the ice, while Supercool speeds up the resulting freeze. It is a high-control option, but it needs a well-placed Super; it is not the better choice for open-map poke.

Build Options: Gadgets, Star Powers & Hypercharge
Gadget: Ice Block
Lou freezes himself for a short time. He cannot move or attack, but becomes immune to damage.
When to use it: Hold it for an assassin dive, burst Super, or objective moment where surviving for another second lets the ice field finish its work.
Gadget: Cryo Syrup
Every enemy standing on Lou’s ice patch instantly receives half of their freeze meter.
When to use it: Use it when opponents are already trapped on the ice and an immediate freeze will win the objective fight.
Star Power: Supercool
Enemies standing on Lou’s Super freeze faster.
When to use it: This is the default for Hot Zone, Gem Grab, and any mode where Lou can cover a fixed area with his Super.
Star Power: Hypothermia
The more frozen an enemy becomes, the less damage they deal.
When to use it: Choose it for long-range poke matchups where reducing an enemy’s damage matters before they ever become fully frozen.
Hypercharge: Slushie Storm
When Lou deploys his Hypercharged Super, the ice patch stuns nearby enemies immediately.
When to use it: Activate it as opponents contest an objective; the opening stun lets the team establish control before the normal freeze buildup begins.
Best Teammates
Lou becomes most valuable when teammates can punish frozen targets or hold enemies inside Supercooled Syrup. These five partners offer durable front-line pressure and reliable damage after his control lands. The cards below link to the selected teammate guides and will appear automatically as those guides are published.
- Buster — Buster advances behind his shield while Lou builds Frost, then deals heavy close-range damage when enemies are slowed or frozen.
- Rosa — Rosa occupies Lou’s icy zone and forces enemies to remain near it, turning his control into sustained objective pressure.
- Jacky — Jacky pulls opponents together inside Lou’s Super, making freezes easier to stack and giving the team a compact target.
- Amber — Amber’s continuous fire punishes enemies whose movement is limited by Frost and blocks the remaining escape routes around Lou’s zone.
- Draco — Draco uses Lou’s slow and freeze to enter safely, then maintains front-line pressure while Lou cycles another control area.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Strengths
- The kit is designed to control the map with a huge freeze.
- Can create a clear advantage when teammates act on the same opening.
- Flexible enough to contribute through positioning even when an immediate elimination is unavailable.
Weaknesses
- Loses value when forced into unfavourable range or terrain.
- Poor ammo discipline can leave the Brawler unable to answer a dive.
- Uncoordinated teammates may fail to convert the space or utility the kit creates.
Counters and Common Mistakes
Opponents that outrange Lou, close distance safely, or deny its main ability can force awkward fights. Avoid wasting all ammo on low-percentage shots, entering without an exit route, and using a Super before teammates are ready to follow.
