Big Walk – A Co-op Adventure Built Entirely Around Talking

Big Walk hands you a group of friends, a wide-open world, and almost nothing else to go on. This cooperative adventure on Steam, PS5, and Switch 2 is built entirely around talking — you will split up, get hopelessly lost, radio each other from opposite ends of the map, and eventually work out how to communicate when you suddenly find yourself unable to speak at all. There is no single-player mode, and that is very much the point.

At a Glance

The Concept: A Walk, With Friends

House House made Untitled Goose Game, where you were one obnoxious bird ruining a village single-handed. Big Walk is the opposite instinct. Instead of solo mischief, you get a group of two to twelve players set loose in a large open landscape full of challenges, puzzles, and things worth wandering toward.

The design leans on distance. The world is big enough that you genuinely lose sight of each other, which turns simple coordination into the actual gameplay. Working out where everyone is, describing what you are looking at, and agreeing on a plan is most of what you will be doing — and the game keeps inventing reasons to make that harder.

Core Gameplay Features

1. Tools and Toys for Staying in Touch

You are given an assortment of gear for keeping contact across the map. Getting separated is not a failure state here — it is the setup for most of the game’s best moments, and the tools exist to make those moments funny rather than frustrating.

2. Puzzles That Need More Than One Brain

Challenges are built around coordination rather than reflexes.

  • Nonlinear structure — you choose what to chase and in what order
  • Puzzles that require players in different places at the same time
  • Sequences where you lose the ability to speak and have to improvise a new way to get your point across

3. Room to Do Nothing at All

Adventuring aside, a real chunk of Big Walk is just hanging out. There is no combat, no fail state, and no clock pushing you along, which makes it work as a background activity for a group that mostly wants to catch up.

Who Is This For?

Groups. Specifically, groups who already talk to each other — this is a game for a Discord call, a friend group, or a family that plays together, and it will fall flat if you are hoping to matchmake with strangers. The relaxed pace and E for Everyone rating make it an easy sell across age gaps too.

PS5 owners get a bonus: Big Walk is included in the PlayStation Plus Essential monthly lineup from August 4 through August 31, so anyone on the base tier can add it at no extra cost during that window. With crossplay across PC, Mac, PS5, and Switch 2, that also makes it very easy to get a mixed-platform group in together.

Pro Tip

Resist the urge to stay clustered together. New players tend to move as one nervous blob, which quietly removes the entire premise of the game — the communication tools only become interesting once there is real distance between you. Split into pairs early, agree on a rough meeting point, and let yourselves get lost on purpose.
