MAVRIX Hits 1.0 Full Release Launch – Open-World Mountain Biking Lands on Game Pass Day One

MAVRIX drops you onto 100 square kilometres of mountainside and lets you find your own line down it. Built by Red Bull athlete and professional rider Matt Jones alongside Third Kind Games, it’s an open-world extreme sports game where downhill courses, slopestyle lines and hidden challenges are scattered across a landscape heavily inspired by Wales. After a year of Early Access, the full 1.0 release has arrived — and it brings competitive Head-to-Head modes with it.

The Concept

MAVRIX went into Steam Early Access in July 2025 and made its console debut in January 2026, with the community shaping it the whole way. Reaching full release is the most significant milestone for the game to date, bringing a wave of new competitive modes, fresh content, and major technical improvements. Matt Jones — a Red Bull athlete since 2014, slopestyle event winner, and Red Bull Hardline competitor — didn’t just lend his name to this one. He built it from the ground up with the studio.

Core Gameplay Features

1. A Mountain Worth Exploring

The world is the main event:

  • 100 square kilometres of open terrain inspired by the Welsh landscape
  • Downhill courses, slopestyle lines, and a wide variety of hidden challenges
  • Replay anything to chase better times, higher trick scores and leaderboard spots

2. New Competitive Modes at 1.0

The full release is where the rivalry starts:

  • Head-to-Head modes bring direct competition into the game for the first time
  • Leaderboards for race times and trick scores
  • Fresh content and major technical improvements alongside the new modes

3. Play It Anywhere

The platform spread is unusually generous:

  • Steam and Epic Games Store on PC, plus PS5 and Xbox Series X|S
  • Day-one Xbox Game Pass, including Xbox Play Anywhere
  • Ride across console, PC and handhelds like the ROG Ally

Who Is This For?

Mountain biking fans first and foremost — the authenticity is the selling point, and Jones’s direct involvement shows in how the riding feels. But it’s also a solid pick for anyone who liked the open-world-plus-tricks structure of games like Descenders or the Riders Republic crowd, and wants something with a narrower, more serious focus. The Game Pass launch makes this an easy one to sample: if you’re already subscribed, there’s no reason not to try it before deciding whether to buy outright.

Pro Tip

Ride the mountain before you race it. The open world isn’t a menu wrapper — the hidden challenges and alternate lines are genuinely scattered across the terrain, and players who explore first know the routes when they finally hit the leaderboard runs. The people topping trick scores aren’t reacting faster, they just already know what’s around the next corner.
