The Story

Dimhaven is a remote island in the middle of nowhere — mountains, mist, and a haunting sense that something went badly wrong here. What was once a lively tourist paradise now sits almost completely abandoned, its retro European architecture weathered and its secrets buried under years of isolation. You play as Emily Ravenstone, a museum curator whose uncle Zack has gone missing while investigating their family’s past. His trail leads straight to Dimhaven, and so do you. The narrative unfolds through exploration, documents, objects, and locations — every detail you find could hold meaning.

Core Gameplay Features

1. First-Person Exploration and Environmental Storytelling

Dimhaven is built entirely around first-person perspective exploration. You move through abandoned tourist sites, forgotten interiors, and eerie natural landscapes, piecing together what happened through the environment itself. The island doesn’t hand you answers — it rewards careful observation, reading every document you find, and examining your surroundings closely. The design philosophy mirrors what made Quern special: the world teaches the player, rather than tutorials doing it for them.

  • First-person exploration across a fully realized abandoned island
  • Narrative driven by documents, objects, and environmental clues
  • Retro European-inspired world with a haunting atmosphere

2. Interconnected Puzzles and Investigative Mechanics

The puzzle design goes beyond simple locked-door logic. Every puzzle is part of an interconnected web — solving one mystery unlocks another layer of the island’s story. Alongside the puzzles, Dimhaven introduces investigative elements: seek clues, inspect locations, and unlock hidden mechanisms to gradually understand the strange events that left the island abandoned. Optional challenges add depth for players who want to push further.

  • Interconnected, complex puzzles that reward patience and observation
  • Investigative gameplay with clues, documents, and hidden mechanisms
  • Optional challenges for deeper exploration

3. Camera and Notebook System

Emily carries a camera and a notebook throughout her investigation — and these aren’t just cosmetic touches. The camera lets you photograph important clues and details, while the notebook helps you track discoveries and organize what you’ve found. This unique system has already become one of the game’s most praised features since launch, adding a detective’s texture to the exploration that goes beyond simply walking and interacting.

  • In-game camera to photograph and record important clues
  • Notebook to track discoveries and organize the mystery
  • One of the most praised features by early players and reviewers

Who Is This For?

Dimhaven is made for players who love losing themselves in a place. If you gravitate toward atmospheric first-person adventures — Myst, Quern, Firewatch, or anything where the environment is a character unto itself — this is squarely in your wheelhouse. It’s not a shooter, not a survival game, and not a combat title. It’s a slow-burn mystery where curiosity is your most important tool. The game also benefits from wide platform support: Steam (Windows, macOS) all get the full release, so no matter your setup, Dimhaven is accessible. It’s already earned Very Positive reviews on Steam and was wishlisted by over 90,000 players before launch.

Pro Tip

Use your notebook actively — don’t just treat it as a passive journal. Every time you find a new document or photograph a clue, flip through your notes and look for connections. Dimhaven’s puzzles are interconnected, so information you collected early can unlock something hours later. Staying organized pays off.
